State Government Announcement:Will provide 1500 assistance to farmers for smartphones; Out of 50 lakh farmers, only 1 lakh farmers will be able to avail the benefits

The government has approved a scheme to help state farmers buy smart phones. According to which farmers will be paid assistance up to a maximum of Rs. 1500 for purchase of smart phones.

According to a resolution issued by the Department of Agriculture, farmers will be entitled to pay 10 per cent of the price of a smart phone purchased or Rs 1,500 whichever is less. This means that if a farmer buys a smart phone worth Rs. The state government has allocated Rs. 15 crore for this scheme so that out of the estimated 50 lakh farmer account holders in the state, only 1 lakh farmers will be able to avail the benefits of this scheme.

This number will also be determined district wise according to Prorata. In case of joint account, this assistance will be paid only to one account holder. Farmers will have to apply for this assistance on i-farmer portal. Farmers will have to buy a smart phone within 15 days of receiving the subsidy. Then the original bill with GST number of the mobile, IMEI number of the mobile, 8-ani copy, canceled check and copy of Aadhar card will have to be submitted. Assistance amount will be directly deposited in the bank account of farmers by Gujarat State Seed Corporation.
