Sales of Car, Two-Wheeler, Passenger-Commercial Vehicles Decline by 9 to 40%

Sales of cars, two-wheelers, passenger-commercial vehicles declined by 9 to 40 per cent during the month of November due to shortage of electronics parts, including semiconductors, despite the Diwali festivities. Sales of the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki fell 9 percent, while Hyundai’s sales fell 21 percent.

However, Tata Motors’ sales have grown at an impressive 25 per cent. In the two-wheeler sector, on the other hand, Bajaj Auto’s sales fell by 10 per cent and TVS’s by 19 per cent. However, industry sources said that despite the decline in domestic sales, exports have increased.

Tractor sales down 15%
Mahindra & Mahindra’s tractor sales rose 15% to 27,681 units (32,726 units). However, exports rose 43% to 1587 units (1107 units) against a 17 per cent decline in domestic sales. Escorts’ tractor sales fell 30 percent to 7,116 units (10,165 units). Exports rose 24.1% to 624 (503) units.

Attractive growth in three-wheeler sales
TVS Motors’ three-wheeler sales rose 33 percent to 14,380 (11,190) units. Bajaj Auto’s sales of commercial vehicles also grew by 10 per cent.
